Specialty K9 Search and Recovery, Inc is a non-profit 501c3 organization consisting of certified dedicated K9/handler volunteers with decades of experience. The team responds to missing or lost person cases at NO COST to the families or the requesting agency. The team is available 24/7 365 days per year and responds to the requests of official agencies such as law enforcement, fire, office of emergency management, and other affiliates. The team searches for lost or missing children, overdue hikers or hunters, Alzheimer's patience, Autistic adults and children, despondent and at risk persons, and drowning victims. The team assists with homicide cases, forensic and cold cases, aircraft and natural disasters, etc.. We mainly service the tri-state area including NJ, NY, PA, CT but will assist in other locations where our services are needed.
Since we operate at NO Charge, we rely on fundraising efforts, donor contributions and grants to offset our operational expenses.
Example of these expenses include out of pocket expenses by the volunteer for field gear and expenses related to the K9 which can amount to hundreds to thousands of dollars per year, such as:
In addition, to the above expenses, the team also relies on generous contributions for operational expenses such as, liability insurance, search management via a digital mapping subscription, website hosting, our membership to NY and NJ rescue council consortium, business cards and brochures, uniforms, id cards.
All contributions made to the team are tax exempt. Specialty K9 Search and Recovery, Inc is listed as a non-profit in the state of NJ and listed with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501c3.

- Handler's field gear (packs, hydration kits, navigation equipment, headlamps, outdoor clothing and footwear)
- K9 equipment (collars, SAR vests, harnesses, leashes, GPS units, and training toys and rewards)
- K9 Safety (crash impact crates, crate bedding, crate fans, vehicle temperature monitors)
- K9 medical supplies (medical bandages and wraps, booties, lift harness, etc..)
- Continuing education (seminars, workshops, re-certification courses such as Wilderness First Aid, CPR, NASAR certs K9 evaluations)
- Travel to trainings and searches (gas, lodging, tolls)
- K9 emergency medical care (K9 medical insurance, emergency veterinary care)
In addition, to the above expenses, the team also relies on generous contributions for operational expenses such as, liability insurance, search management via a digital mapping subscription, website hosting, our membership to NY and NJ rescue council consortium, business cards and brochures, uniforms, id cards.
